Ms. Roth will share her lived history with the formation and development with the United Religions Initiative (URI), the expanding scope of interfaith cooperation, and recent developments within the organization. The United Religions Initiative was born out of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations celebration held in San Francisco in 1995. The original concept of a “United Nations for the religions of the world” has shifted and refocussed over the years, and it has grown into a worldwide movement of interfaith cooperation. Ms. Roth will also share the development of the regional potential and the latest projects. Group discussion and Q&A will also be welcomed. See web links below for further information.
About the Presenter
Anne V. Roth has served ten years of pastoral work in the United Methodist Church, one of the first women ordained in the 1970’s (M.Div.), led to more education, a Certificate in Spiritual Direction, years of volunteer work with an AIDS Project, and ground-floor work with the founding of the United Religions Initiative and its years of development. Published works include educational chapters on domestic violence, AIDS ministry, and Biblical studies for the United Methodist Publishing House/Abingdon Press, as well as numerous articles for and about the URI’s growth, development, and structure.Current affiliations include Restoring the Soul Advisory Council, Religious Advisory Council at DU, Planning team for the Conference on World Affairs at CU Boulder, Vice President of URI North America. Just finishing a term as Global Trustee for URI.
