The crux of the problem is that the addict at the core feels worthless. And the partner, at her core, consistently is overcompensating which we can frame as a spiritual dilemma. This begs the question of what is intimacy in regards to Self and Other including God, Higher Power or something greater than ourselves? Surrender will be explored as a key component to recovery and how this factors in to help the individual and the couples relationship.
