Breaking Free from the Shackles of Shame
January 21st, 2015Lorna Benton, LCSWHost: Barry ErdmanAbout The Presentation
Let’s get one thing straight: everyone experiences shame. The degree to which it rules our lives varies from person to person but it’s clear, that the less we talk about it, the more it negatively impacts our lives. Shame keeps us disconnected from ourselves, our friends, families, and our communities. On the contrary, people who are most resilient to shame operate from a place of awareness which empowers them to be comfortable in their own skin, compassionate with themselves and others, and are able to build meaningful relationships. What a Gift! Informed by the work of Dr. Brené Brown’s Shame Resilience Theory, Lorna will discuss how using this work has enriched her personally and has deepened her professional work to the transformational benefit of her clients, particularly those with anxiety disorders
