Forgive Us Our Trespasses: Documenting the Conviction of Three Nuns at a Missile Silo & the Implications for Spiritual & Social Transformation
Before dawn on October 6, 2002, three nuns acted as a Citizen Weapons Inspection Team to inspect, expose and symbolically disarm a minuteman III nuclear missile in Colorado. Their action, conviction and sentence to Federal Prison have inspired the creation of the documentary film CONVICTION: US v Gilbert, Hudson and Platte. This film illuminates the polarities and irony present in our nation today in the areas of civil liberties, security, weapons of mass destruction, faith in action and international law.
This presentation will include clips of the film, personal stories of trial and triumph from the producer and an examination of how the vision and action of a few can inspire our communities and world towards a deeper awareness and participation in peace and disarmament.

Brenda Truelson Fox, M.Div. has worked in Public Ministry for twenty years. Her work as Public Minister, Mom, Spiritual Director and now Filmmaker is supported by her keen interest in the spiritual, emotional and sociopolitical influences bound together in the human story. Her experience in community organizing, resource development, program planning, and curriculum design have served as an excellent springboard for the challenges of producing a long-form social issue documentary.
Brenda has developed programming in collaboration with the United States Peace Corps, The Fellowship of Reconciliation, United Church of Christ in the Philippines, Kamakwie Hospital in Sierra Leone, the Marjorie Kovler Center for Survivors of Torture, the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center and the Wackenhut Detention Facility in Aurora, Colorado. |
